The Radioactive Galaxy

WORKSHOP at Clemson University (SC, USA), March 20-22, 1996

Scope

This workshop gathered scientists under the theme of radioactivities as they appear to us at different places in our Galaxy. Gamma-ray line measurements and meteoritic analyses provide the observational background, theories and models of stellar evolution with its nucleosynthesis, and of explosive sites (novae, supernovae) provide the theoretical background. At this workshop, we focussed attention on large-scale aspects, including star formation theory and patterns in the Galaxy, positron sources and annihilation, and we added a section on experiments to measure nuclear reaction cross sections.
